Prof. Géraldine Coppin, Ph. D.
University of Geneva

Department of Psychology

Boulevard du pont d’Arve 40

1205 Geneva, Switzerland

I studied psychology at the University of Lille 3, France (2003-2006). Desirous of specializing in affective sciences, I moved to the University of Geneva, Switzerland  to complete my master's degree (2006-2008). I obtained my PhD in psychology and affective sciences under the supervision of Prof. David Sander (2008-2012). I then moved to the John B. Pierce Laboratory, Yale University, where I worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Dana M. Small’s lab (2012-2014). I worked in her second lab at the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research in Cologne, Germany for a year (2014-2015) in co-supervision with Dr. Marc Tittgemeyer. In September 2015 I returned to the University of Geneva to work in Prof. David Sander’s lab, as a senior researcher/lecturer (Maître-assistante) for affective psychology. Since January 2018, I am also assistant professor in neurocognition in the Department of Psychology of Distance Learning University Switzerland (UniDistance) and co-dean of the master in psychology at UniDistance.

I study the psychology and neurosciences of chemosensory perception (i.e., olfactory and flavor perception) and food intake. More specifically, I am working on behavioral and neural correlates of food preferences and choices. I am investigating them in healthy individuals as well as in clinical populations, i.e., overweight and obese individuals (in collaboration with Dr. Zoltan Pataky), patients with type 1 diabetes (in collaboration with Dr. Giacomo Gastaldi) and patients with olfactory and/or gustatory disorders (in collaboration with Dr. Basile Landis). I am using psychological methods and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI).
