A New paper in Cell from the Roux group!

It shows that the ESCRT protein Snf7 makes spiral springs which deform lipid membranes.

 In this article, in collaboration with the groups of Martin Lenz in Orsay and Simon Scheuring in Marseille, we show that Snf7 forms elastic, curly filaments that grow into spirals at the surface of the membrane. These spirals can accumulate lateral compression and deform the membrane by expansion.
