Candidates must have (or about to obtain) a master degree or diploma in physics with appropriate knowledge and experience in experimental Particle Physics to conduct a Ph.D. on the Mu3e experiment. The position involves also teaching duties. Mastering or willing to learn French will be appreciated. Experience in modern programming languages such as C++ and scripting languages will be valued. The PhD is normally completed in four years with a maximal extension to 5 years. The position is available immediately and will be attributed when an outstanding candidate will have been selected.

The DPNC ATLAS group contributed significantly to the construction of the silicon-strip detector and the Insertable B-Layer (IBL) and has now a leading role in the operation of the Pixel detector. A strong physics-analysis program is presently pursued, with focus on searches for new physics.

The selected candidate is expected to make significant contributions to the preparation studies of the ATLAS ITk Pixel detector for the HL-LHC programme and more specifically to the HV-CMOS sensor technology R&D. (S)he will also participate in the expert tasks of the operation of the ATLAS Pixel detector.
